Two Soldiers, Seven Bandits Killed in Bauchi Duel

On Monday, the Bauchi State Police Command confirmed that two soldiers from the 33 Artillery Brigade and seven bandits were killed during a gun duel in Gwana District, Alkaleri Local Government Area. The encounter occurred as part of a joint operation involving the Joint Task Force (JTF) and local vigilante groups, following reports of a bandit attack on the community at 4:32 PM on Sunday.

SP Nafiu Habib disclosed that the soldiers, who were part of the local vigilante group, paid the ultimate price in the confrontation. Additionally, three members of the community were abducted by the bandits, while the police's anti-kidnap unit engaged in the operation to neutralize the bandits.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, assured that intelligence gathering is ongoing to track down the fleeing assailants and rescue the abducted victims. The People's Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity in the Alkaleri Local Government Area, particularly in Gwana and Duguri communities.
