Senator Onawo Defects from ADC to APM in Quick Switch

Senator Onawo, representing the Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) less than two weeks after joining the ADC. His resignation letter was read on the Senate floor by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin during a plenary session on Tuesday.

Onawo's decision, effective June 15, was made after consultations with constituents and political stakeholders, indicating that the ADC's ongoing legal battles no longer provided the cohesive support necessary for effective representation. He expressed a firm belief that the current party structure could not enable the focus required to represent his constituents effectively.

Onawo's switch to APM marks his second defection in recent months, following a previous move on March 12, when he was among nine senators who defected from ADC to the People's Democratic Party during a plenary session presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
