Nigeria's Archers Shine at 2026 African Championship

At the 2026 African Archery Championship held in Oran, Algeria, Team Nigeria achieved a remarkable performance, securing a total of six medals: 1 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze. This accomplishment represents Nigeria's best international performance in archery to date.

The medals were won in various categories, including Men's team Barebow, Women's team Barebow, Mixed team Barebow, Women's individual Barebow, Compound men's team event, and Mixed team Compound Bow event. Key contributors to the gold medal in the Women's team Barebow were Faith Adekogbe, Etiedung Monday, and Precious Fanny Amun.

The silver medals were earned by Obasa Abdulraheem, Abdlasot Sanni, and Usman Abubakar in the Men's team Barebow, as well as by Usman Abubakar and Faith Adekogbe in the Mixed team Barebow. Faith Adekogbe also won silver in the Women's individual Barebow.

The Nigeria Archer Federation (NAFED) President, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, praised the athletes and the sponsorship from SBS, which provided jerseys and tracksuits for the team.
