Amazon Cargo Plane Crash at Miami Airport Kills 5

On Sunday, an Amazon Air cargo plane, operated by 21 Air, crashed at Miami International Airport after overrunning the runway at approximately 2 PM local time. The Boeing 767 had arrived from Juan, Puerto Rico.

The incident resulted in at least five fatalities, as confirmed by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava during a news conference. Miami-Dade fire rescue chief Ray Jadallah reported that three individuals were in critical condition, while two others sustained less severe injuries and were hospitalized.

Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the scene. Following the crash, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a full ground stop at the airport, leading to the closure of all runways and taxiways, with around 250 flights delayed by late Sunday afternoon.

Amazon stated that it was collaborating with local authorities to investigate the incident and emphasized the safety and care of those involved. Boeing also expressed condolences and is supporting the investigation led by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
