Nesiama Joins World Athletics Mentor Program for 2026

Omatseye Nesiama, the former Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), has received a significant appointment from World Athletics to participate in the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) mentor program. This program is set to take place during the 2026 African Championship scheduled for May 10-19 in Accra, Ghana.

Nesiama's involvement is seen as a recognition of Nigeria's growing influence in athletic officiating and technical administration. He will join other experienced officials to enhance the capacity of technical officials through practical experience and educational sessions at one of Africa's largest athletic competitions.

The program will feature the presence of World Athletics gold referees who will provide guidance and mentorship. Nesiama's international flight ticket and accommodation during his stay in Ghana will be covered by the CAA.

His active role during the championship will include participating in educational sessions alongside experienced officials from across the continent, further reinforcing Nigeria's stature within the global athletic officiating community.
