945 Oyo Pilgrims Complete Umrah in Makkah Successfully

The Oyo State government announced that 945 pilgrims from Oyo State have successfully completed their Umrah in Makkah. This information was shared in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.

The last batch of pilgrims is expected to join their counterparts in Makkah on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The state organized the pilgrimage in three batches, with each group receiving a warm welcome from representatives of the Saudi Arabian government.

Sheikh Wahab Ater Hashim, the chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, addressed the third batch of pilgrims before their departure from Medina to Makkah on Sunday. He expressed concern regarding the attitude and approach of Nigerian pilgrims, particularly from the southwest region, urging them to focus solely on worship during the Hajj and to set aside social activities.

He also cautioned against unnecessary movements during the pilgrimage, considering the weather conditions in the host country.
