Luis Suarez, the 39-year-old striker currently playing for Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer, revealed his willingness to accept a call-up to the Uruguay national football team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Suarez, who is set to retire from international football in September 2024, has become Uruguay's all-time leading scorer with 69 goals in 143 appearances.

He emphasized the importance of national representation, especially in a World Cup year, and stated that no player should feel they need to apologize for wanting to compete.
