Nigeria to Host Online Qualifiers for Youth Scrabble 2026

The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) is organizing online qualifiers for the 2026 World Youth Scrabble Championship, which will take place from July 11-12. According to national youth coach Hassan Olojoku, the qualifiers will occur on Saturday and Sunday, with players competing on an online platform to determine the country's representatives for the global championship.

Technical Director Adedeji Khaleel will provide details on the exercise ahead of the competition, urging eligible players to familiarize themselves with the platform. Coaches are tasked with ensuring a smooth playing environment for the participants.

The NSF aims to identify the best four players to represent Nigeria at the event in Nairobi, Kenya. Additionally, Nigeria is expected to field two teams of ten players, including four eligible under-10 players.

The NSF will also seek sponsorship and funding updates ahead of the trip, reflecting on Nigeria's impressive performance at the last championship in Malaysia, where Abdulqodu Aliou narrowly missed the overall title and Sophia Ekeruch was recognized as the best female player.
