ADC Faction Rejects Atiku Abubakar's 2027 Bid

The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Gomb has formally disowned Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambitions for the 2027 elections. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Gomb clarified that the ADC has concluded its nomination process, selecting Professor Chris Uba as its presidential candidate.

The faction described the David Mark-led national working committee as an unauthorized body lacking legal standing to act on behalf of the party. Gomb emphasized the need to protect the party's identity and prevent misrepresentation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He stated that Atiku Abubakar is not the presidential candidate of the ADC and that the party remains committed to contesting elections on its own merit. The faction warned Atiku against pursuing the presidential candidacy under the ADC, labeling such claims as misleading.

The ADC asserts its autonomy and readiness to present credible candidates across various electoral positions in the upcoming elections.
