Datti Baba-Ahmed Critiques ADC Leadership and Unity

In an interview with Trust TV, Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party's 2023 vice presidential candidate, expressed concerns regarding the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that it lacks strong political leaders and unity, which could hinder its electoral prospects. He noted that the ADC does not possess the political weight of former presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu.

Baba-Ahmed warned that the ADC's ability to rally unanimous support within its coalition is questionable, especially with major contenders like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi vying for tickets. He praised Bola Tinubu's political strategy and experience, highlighting Tinubu's focus and resource determination.

Baba-Ahmed drew comparisons to former President Goodluck Jonathan's 2011 election, emphasizing the need for a deeper understanding of northern stakeholders. He referenced Jonathan's 2011 promise to the north, which he felt was not honored in the subsequent election cycle, indicating broader structural challenges within the ADC coalition that require time to address.
