Ogun APC Candidate Adeola Targets Corporate Tax Recovery

Senator Olamilekan Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State, has pledged to recover corporate taxes and revenue generated by industries in Ogun that currently remit taxes to Lagos. During an interactive session at the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Abeokuta, Adeola expressed concern over Ogun's low internally generated revenue (IGR) despite being Nigeria's primary industrial hub.

He noted that over 30 percent of Lagos' corporate tax revenue comes from activities in Ogun, as many companies have their headquarters in Lagos. Adeola proposed the establishment of a Central Business District in Abeokuta to encourage companies to set up regional offices, ensuring that some managerial positions are located within Ogun.

Additionally, he criticized the reliance on non-resident labor and pledged to implement a local content policy to enhance employment for indigenous workers. Adeola also plans to address uncoordinated federal mining activities that do not benefit the state financially.
