Taiwo: Hunye's Governorship Bid a Negotiation Tactic

Toyin Taiwo, the former Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor and APC consensus candidate for the Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, commented on Abayomi Hunye's governorship ambitions, describing them as a negotiation strategy rather than a direct challenge to the APC. Speaking on Splash FM in Abeokuta, Taiwo explained that Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi, was selected as the APC consensus candidate following consultations with former governors and party elders.

He noted that Hunye's decision to purchase a governorship nomination form, despite the consensus candidate's emergence, is a tactic for securing relevance and negotiating for other positions within the party. Taiwo asserted that Hunye is currently under suspension, which limits his ability to contest party decisions.

He also dismissed claims of endorsement for Hunye from the Ipokia community. Taiwo expressed confidence in the APC's chances in the upcoming election, predicting that Adeola would defeat Ladi Adebutu of the PDP.
