Babachir Lawal Accuses NDC's Binani of Backing Atiku

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, accused Aisha Binani, the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Adamawa State, of supporting Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rather than Peter Obi of the NDC. Lawal made this allegation on his official Facebook page on a Monday, following reports that six NDC governorship candidates from the North-East rejected his appointment as the leader of the party in the North-East and North-Central zones.

He claimed that candidates from Gombe and Taraba States had contacted him to distance themselves from the protest. Lawal asserted that Nigeria's only viable presidential options for 2027 are Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

He emphasized that there would be no alteration of results in the upcoming elections and dismissed the protests as inconsequential, stating that they were led by a "female pretender" to the governorship candidacy of Adamawa State.
