Babachir Lawal Accuses Aisha Binani of Backing Atiku

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, accused Aisha Binani, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, of backing Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Lawal made this allegation on his official Facebook page on Monday, following reports that six NDC governorship candidates in the North-East rejected his appointment as the party’s leader in the region.

These candidates stated their decision was collective, firm, and final. Lawal claimed that Binani was behind the protest and asserted that other NDC candidates in Gombe and Taraba states had distanced themselves from the rejection statement.

He characterized the protest as a charade led by a "female pretender" to the governorship candidacy of Adamawa State. Lawal expressed that he was not troubled by the opposition, stating that the national leadership of the party should address the matter and clarified that he did not formally request or receive an offer for the leadership position.
