Sambo Critiques Datti Baba-Ahmed on 2027 Election Comments

Sumner Sambo, the Director of Politics at Arise News, criticized Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, for his recent remarks regarding the 2027 presidential election. During a broadcast on Arise Television, Sambo advised Baba-Ahmed to be more cautious with his public statements and to allow politicians actively contesting the election to pursue their ambitions.

He described some of Baba-Ahmed’s comments as disjointed, particularly his assertion that President Bola Tinubu should prepare to leave office without handing over power to any of the current challengers, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar. Baba-Ahmed had previously warned Obi against joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he felt was a departure from Obi's political "comfort zone." Sambo emphasized that opposition figures like Obi and Atiku deserve recognition for their courage in contesting against a sitting president and questioned why Baba-Ahmed had not declared his own presidential ambitions if he believed the current candidates were inadequate.
