CSO Opposes Nnaji's Clearance for Enugu Governorship Race

Civil society organizations have expressed strong opposition to the clearance of Geoffrei Nnaji, a former Minister of Science and Technology, by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to participate in the upcoming governorship primaries in Enugu State. This criticism arises amid ongoing investigations into allegations of forgery against Nnaji, who resigned from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's cabinet due to these allegations.

Dr. Emeka Nwachukwu, representing the organizations, stated that the integrity of the electoral process is at stake and emphasized the need for leadership built on trust and credibility.

The organizations called for the PDP to address the allegations seriously, as they believe that allowing Nnaji to contest could undermine the party's reputation and lead to a potential victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC). They urged the PDP to intervene and prevent embarrassment, stressing the importance of having leaders whose records can withstand public scrutiny.
