APC's Abayomi Hunye Announces Candidacy for Ogun 2027

Abayomi Hunye, a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, held a press conference in Abeokuta on Saturday to reaffirm his candidacy for the 2027 gubernatorial election and to unveil his deputy governorship candidate, Abayomi Odunowo. Hunye, who is from the Ogun West Senatorial District, dismissed rumors that he had withdrawn from the race, stating he remains committed despite the APC's endorsement of Solomon Adeola as the consensus candidate.

This endorsement occurred during an APC strategic caucus meeting on April 13, attended by key party leaders, including Governor Dapo Abiodun. In the May primary, Adeola won with 304,055 votes, while Hunye received no votes and subsequently challenged the primary results in court, citing irregularities.

Hunye emphasized his continued participation in the electoral process, referencing provisions in the amended Electoral Act that require candidates to engage in the primary process to seek legal relief.
