DSS Alerts Osun Leaders of Terrorist Attack Plans

The Department of State Services (DSS) issued a warning to Muslim and Christian leaders in Osun State regarding a potential terrorist plot to attack churches, mosques, markets, and other public gathering places to disrupt the 2027 general elections. This alert was communicated during separate meetings held in Osogbo on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, President of the Osun State Muslim Community, confirmed the authenticity of the meeting, urging vigilance among religious leaders and residents. The DSS advised against parking vehicles near worshippers during gatherings and recommended that night guards be appointed for mosques.

Pastor John Adeleke, Chairman of the Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria, also confirmed the meeting, stating that church leaders were instructed to enhance security awareness. Intelligence indicated that terrorists might mobilize from regions like Kaduna and Jos to create unrest in Osun State, potentially leading to voter apathy and election disruption.
