Adeleke Urges Vigilance Amid Terror Alert in Osun State

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued a directive for residents to stay alert and report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities to security agencies. This directive followed a security meeting involving the Department of State Services (DSS) and leaders from the Muslim community and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Osun State.

The meeting addressed intelligence regarding an alleged terrorist plan to instigate violence in parts of the South-West, potentially aimed at creating fear and disrupting the 2027 general elections. Adeleke emphasized the importance of community vigilance and urged residents to promptly inform the police of any unusual activities.

He commended the DSS for its proactive measures and called on other security agencies to enhance their action plans for safeguarding lives and properties. Additionally, he announced plans to convene a State Security Council meeting to evaluate the situation and the effectiveness of response strategies.

He also encouraged traditional leaders to hold council meetings to address these security concerns.
