ADC Candidate Suleiman Rejects Atiku's Move for Modibbo

Omar Suleiman, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, issued a statement on August 28, rejecting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's reported attempt to present Tukur Modibbo as the ADC's candidate for the 2027 governorship election. Suleiman emphasized that he is the duly elected candidate, having won the primary election conducted under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where he emerged victorious while Modibbo placed second.

He stated that his name was submitted to INEC as the official candidate and has sought an injunction to prevent any substitution of his name. Suleiman claimed that he had informed Atiku about the legal action and framed the dispute as a matter of upholding democratic processes.

He called on ADC members and the public to remain calm as the legal proceedings unfold, asserting that the mandate belongs to the party members who voted.
