Atiku's Camp Rejects Tinubu's 2027 Election Projection

On September 2, 2023, Paul Ibe, the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, responded to a projection by the Political Intelligence Group (PIG) of Politico.ng, which forecasted that President Bola Tinubu would secure 20 states in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Ibe criticized the credibility and transparency of the projection, which assigned nine states to Abubakar and eight to the Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.

He challenged the PIG to disclose its methodology and data, arguing that such forecasts could create a misleading narrative about the election outcome. Ibe emphasized that the election should be determined by the Nigerian electorate rather than by unverified projections.

He also raised concerns about the timing of the projection, noting that political alliances were still evolving and that the election was months away. Ibe warned that publishing unexplained figures could facilitate electoral manipulation.
