APC Confident of 2027 Election Success Amid Criticism

On September 3, 2023, Christopher Musa, the Minister of Defence, responded to Peter Obi's assertions regarding President Bola Tinubu's potential loss in the 2027 general elections. Musa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence that the party would retain the presidency and succeed in various contests, including in Kaduna state.

He characterized the notion of growing anti-government sentiment in the North as a mere perception, suggesting that critics were motivated by personal dissatisfaction. Musa defended the Tinubu administration's economic policies, labeling them as challenging yet necessary.

During a town hall meeting in Rivers State, Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), warned that the 2027 elections would be harder to manipulate than the 2023 elections, emphasizing the numerical strength of voters at polling units. Obi has maintained his claim of winning Rivers state and the overall election, which the courts rejected.

He was ratified as the NDC's presidential candidate for the 2027 elections on May 29, 2026.
