INEC Reveals 18 Presidential Candidates for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the final list of 18 presidential candidates and their running mates for the January 2027 general elections on Saturday in Abuja. The list, signed by Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, features candidates from 18 political parties, comprising 16 males and 2 females.

Notable male candidates include incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Gregory Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). The two female candidates are Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement.

The commission also listed 14 male and 4 female vice-presidential candidates. Prominent pairings include Tinubu with Kashim Shettima (APC), Atiku with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (ADC), and Obi with Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankwaso (NDC).
