Lawal Backs Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket, Joins NDC for 2027

Alhaji Abubakar Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has publicly declared his support for the presidential ticket of Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Lawal made this announcement during an interactive session in Abuja after joining the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NDC is actively preparing for the 2027 general elections by recruiting, screening, and training polling agents across the country to enhance its electoral machinery. The party's National Secretary stated that a committee has been established to oversee this initiative, ensuring adequate representation at polling units during voting, counting, and collation processes.

The NDC emphasized the importance of support groups, such as the Obidient Movement, in grassroots mobilization while clarifying that these groups must operate within the party's framework. Lawal cited insecurity, poverty, and economic hardship as reasons for his return to active politics, expressing a desire to support an alternative political direction for Nigeria.
