NUJ Urges Politicians to Avoid Hate Campaigns Ahead of 2027

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ebonyi State Council cautioned politicians against engaging in hate campaigns and character assassination as the 2027 general elections approach. This warning was issued in a communiqué following a congress held at the Dr.

Sam Egwu Press Centre in Abakaliki. The union urged political actors to conduct themselves according to democratic principles and focus on issue-based campaigns.

Additionally, the NUJ expressed concern over the recurrent delays in the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers, warning that such delays could frustrate efforts to boost food production and address economic hardships in the state. The union called on the government to ensure timely distribution of these inputs to genuine farmers, especially as the rainy season intensifies, which poses a risk of flooding.

The NUJ commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his visionary investments in education and human capital development, urging him to remain focused on programs that improve the welfare of Ebonyi people.
