APC and INEC Face Scrutiny Over 2027 Election Candidates

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are currently engaged in a dispute regarding the revised list of senatorial candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. INEC has warned that it will reject candidates whose names do not match the results uploaded from the primaries.

This scrutiny follows allegations against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of operating a fictitious government agency and forging presidential appointment letters. In a related development, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revoked the licenses of 46 microfinance banks for failing to comply with key regulatory requirements, effective July 1.

This decision was approved by CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso. Additionally, Atiku Abubakar appointed actor Kenneth Okonkwo as his spokesperson, amidst public criticism of his choice for the 2027 elections.
