Uduebor Calls for Competence in 2027 Elections

Uduebor stated that the 2027 elections should prioritize performance, competence, character, and vision. He acknowledged the significance of Nigeria's return to democratic governance in 1999, marking over 25 years of uninterrupted civilian rule.

He highlighted progress in institutionalizing democracy, telecommunications liberalization, financial sector reforms, and reducing external debt, notably through the 2005 Paris Club agreement, which provided about $18 billion in debt relief. Despite these advancements, he noted that population growth has outpaced improvements in critical areas such as income, jobs, electricity, security, education, and healthcare.

He stressed the urgent need for job creation as millions of young Nigerians enter the labor market annually. Uduebor called for a shift from government-driven to productivity-driven development, advocating for strong political and constitutional reforms, including the establishment of independent institutions capable of functioning effectively regardless of political leadership.
