South East Youth Leaders Reject Uzodimma's Endorsement

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) issued a statement clarifying that the South East region has not endorsed any presidential candidate, political party, or coalition for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This statement was a response to comments made by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

COSEYL, led by President General Comrade Goodluck Ibem, emphasized that Uzodimma's remarks reflect his personal opinion and do not represent the collective stance of the South East. The group asserted that no governor has the authority to dictate the political choices of the electorate, stressing that the democratic rights of individuals must be respected.

They indicated that the region would evaluate presidential candidates based on various criteria, including competence and national inclusion, and would make a decision closer to the election date. COSEYL urged political leaders to refrain from misleading declarations regarding the South East's political position.
