Otti Disagrees with Uzodimma on Tinubu's 2027 Support

Abia State Governor Alex Otti distanced himself from Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma's assertion that all five South-East governors had agreed to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027. Otti stated that Uzodimma could not represent the views of all governors in the region.

He emphasized that the decision regarding the presidency would ultimately be made by the electorate. During a media chat on Thursday, Otti, a member of the Labour Party, confirmed that his party would present its own presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the upcoming election.

He expressed no opposition to President Tinubu seeking a second term, acknowledging the president's constitutional right to run. Otti also reiterated his support for certain federal economic policies, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, which he argued promotes corruption.

Uzodimma, who chairs the South-East Governors’ Forum, had previously cited federal infrastructure projects as reasons for supporting Tinubu's re-election.
