Salis Meets Atiku to Discuss National Development Issues

On Thursday, Owolabi Salis, the former governorship candidate for the Alliance for Democracy in Lagos State, held a closed-door meeting with Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress. Salis indicated that the meeting was part of his consultations with key political leaders and stakeholders regarding national development.

He plans to meet with other prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and retired military leaders General Yakubu Gowon, General Ibrahim Babangida, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar. Salis expressed his concerns about Nigeria's slow pace of development over the past two decades since the return to democratic rule, attributing challenges to weak democratic institutions and political practices that affect ordinary citizens.

He highlighted issues such as poverty, limited access to healthcare, and infrastructure challenges in disadvantaged communities, and he called for electoral reforms to strengthen confidence in the electoral process.
