Darma Declares Candidacy for Katsina Central Senate Seat

Dr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma, the former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), has officially announced his candidacy for the Katsina Central senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.

This declaration was made during a press conference held at his residence in Katsina on Tuesday. Darma's decision follows increasing calls for support from various political groups within the district, including rallies organized to persuade him to contest.

He aims to represent the Katsina Central senatorial zone, which encompasses 11 local government areas, focusing on enhancing welfare, particularly in economic empowerment, education, healthcare, poverty reduction, and security. With a decade of experience in academia, public service, and the private sector, Darma has a substantial political background, having held various positions, including local government chairman and deputy governorship.

He has authored 40 books and numerous academic papers. His candidacy is backed by consultations with political mentors and community leaders who have urged him to accept the challenge.
