G-100 Pushes for Single Opposition Candidate for 2027

The G-100, a coalition of politicians, is working towards the selection of a single opposition presidential candidate for Nigeria's 2027 general election. Salihu Lukman, one of the conveners, stated that the group has engaged with the leadership of six opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress, Nigeria Democratic Congress, and Allied Peoples Movement, as well as the minority caucus of the House of Representatives.

The G-100 Summit, initially scheduled for August 18, has been postponed to August 31 to allow for the National Peace Summit, which will gather key political stakeholders. Lukman emphasized the importance of these discussions, noting a broad consensus among the parties on the need for structured engagement.

The G-100 plans to continue consultations with relevant stakeholders to develop proposals for consideration at the upcoming summit.
