IGP Disu Urges Youths to Reject Political Violence

On Saturday, during the closing ceremony of the International Youth Day 2026 National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu urged Nigerian youths to avoid political and digital thuggery. He warned that engaging in violence could jeopardize their future and the nation's prospects.

Disu encouraged young Nigerians to actively participate in building a peaceful and democratic society, cautioning them against manipulation by politicians for violent purposes. The three-day initiative, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” included discussions on youth leadership, peace, security, and responsible citizenship.

Disu emphasized that youth engagement should lead to understanding and action beyond mere speeches. He also introduced the Nigeria Police Force's campaign, “My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery,” advocating for the constructive use of technology in education and nation-building.

Disu highlighted the necessity of fostering a partnership between the police and the youth to build public confidence in policing.
