Kogi CP Urges Youths to Reject Political Violence

On Saturday, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, addressed youths during the command’s commemoration of International Youth Day 2026, themed ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,’ with a campaign focus on ‘My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery.’ Kankarofi urged young people to reject political violence, digital thuggery, misinformation, and criminality, highlighting their potential as critical partners in fostering a safer society. He warned that while youths possess energy and creativity that can promote peace, these qualities could also be misused to incite division and violence.

Kankarofi introduced initiatives like the Youth Campaign Walk and Police-Youth Dialogue to enhance trust and communication between the police and youths. He cautioned against irresponsible social media use and urged verification of information before sharing.

Ahead of future elections, he advised youths not to become instruments of political violence, asserting that no political ambition justifies sacrificing their lives or futures. Kankarofi commended Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu for supporting youth engagement initiatives.
