Umahi Announces 2027 Presidential Bid Alongside Tinubu

David Umahi, the Minister of Works in Nigeria, declared his intention to be on the presidential ballot in 2027, alongside the current president, Bola Tinubu. Umahi made this announcement during an inspection of ongoing road projects on a Sunday.

He stated that he does not want to see projects halted and aims to ensure their completion, indicating a commitment to the current administration's infrastructure goals. Umahi also mentioned that he has informed Peter Obi, a candidate from the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), about his plans for the 2027 elections.

He expressed a desire for stability and consistent leadership to reach the completion of ongoing road infrastructure developments. Furthermore, Umahi challenged Obi to a public debate regarding their respective achievements during their tenures, although Obi reportedly declined the invitation, questioning Umahi's qualifications for such a debate.
