Ilorin Emirate Seeks Reconciliation Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Ilorin Emirate is actively pursuing reconciliation between Kwara Governor Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents the Kwara Central Senatorial District. This effort comes amid reports of a political rift that could impact the community ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, disclosed these efforts during a meeting with journalists, emphasizing the need to restore cordial relations for the benefit of the community. Dr. Yakub Yahaya Oloriegbe, the council's nation coordinator, noted that previous reconciliation attempts initiated by the Emir's father, the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Solihu, would be revisited.

The council includes prominent Islamic scholars and stakeholders, such as Sheikh Habeeb Abdullahi Al-Ilori and Sheikh Abdulkadir Kamaldeen Al-Adabi. Lt. Col. Abubakar Edun (rtd), the council's secretary, warned that prolonged divisions between the two political figures could adversely affect the community's access to federal projects and appointments, potentially costing the Emirate significant resources.
