INEC and NPC Strategize for Peaceful and Credible Elections in Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Peace Committee (NPC) held a strategic meeting in Abuja to ensure the upcoming elections, including the February 21 area council elections, are conducted peacefully and reflect the will of the people. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan emphasized the importance of promoting peace during elections and mitigating electoral conflicts.

The meeting discussed the security landscape in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), particularly in areas like Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Bwari. The NPC aims to provide guidance and support to ensure safe and credible elections, with a focus on data-driven interventions to address electoral violence and conflicts.

The Kukah Centre's Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Atta Barkindo, highlighted the importance of the Election Security Information Hub in monitoring and analyzing security incidents to enhance the electoral process.
