INEC Publishes Credentials for 2027 Election Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the credentials and personal details of President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This publication includes academic qualifications and supporting documents submitted by the candidates seeking elective offices.

According to Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, INEC is mandated to make candidates' personal particulars public within 21 days of receiving them, allowing voters and stakeholders to scrutinize the documents. The publication occurs ahead of the official campaign commencement for the 2027 presidential election, which is set to begin on August 19.

The candidates involved are Bola Tinubu representing the current administration, Peter Obi from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) with running mate Rabi’u Kwankwaso, and Atiku Abubakar from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
