INEC Reports 2.97M Voter Registrations by July 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that as of July 17, 2026, a total of 2,970,957 Nigerians successfully completed the ongoing Phase III Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). The update indicated that 970,865 registrants completed the process online, while 2,000,092 opted for physical registration.

Lagos state recorded the highest number of completed registrations with 140,546, followed by Edo (139,313), Delta (132,330), and Kano (234,305). Notably, Osun state recorded no registrations due to a suspension ahead of the governorship election as per Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The demographic breakdown revealed that female registrants accounted for 52.57% of the total, while youth aged 18-34 dominated with 67.43%. Students formed the largest occupational group among registrants, with 695,026 registrations.

Additionally, 32,361 persons with disabilities registered, categorized by various disabilities. INEC emphasized that these figures are preliminary and subject to data clean-up through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
