Kano Government Urges Peaceful Campaign for 2027 Elections

On September 10, 2023, the Kano State Government officially commenced the 2027 governorship election campaign, urging political actors to refrain from hate speech, provocation, character assassination, and property destruction. This call was made during a press conference by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Spokesperson for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Dawakin Tofa assured the people of Kano State that their campaign would focus on peace, development, unity, and prosperity. He emphasized that political actors should engage in competition based on ideas, policies, and achievements rather than insults or violence.

The government also called on supporters to remain disciplined and respect opposing views to maintain the state's relative peace.
