Kogi State Sets N150m Fee for Presidential Campaign Billboards

The Kogi State Government has approved official fees for the placement of campaign materials, including billboards and posters, in preparation for the 2027 general elections and the October 2026 local government elections. Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, announced this in Lokoja after a meeting with stakeholders in the advertising sector.

Presidential candidates will be charged N150m for campaign signage, while senatorial candidates will pay N50m, House of Representatives candidates N30m, and state House of Assembly candidates N5m. For local government elections, chairmanship candidates will pay N2m and councillorship candidates N300,000.

Fanwo stated that these fees are intended to regulate political advertising, ensure compliance with existing regulations, and generate revenue for Kogi State. He warned that failure to pay the prescribed fees would result in prosecution.

The Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency will oversee the enforcement of these regulations, which apply to all political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress.
