NDC Candidate Accuses LASAA of Banner Removal in Lagos

Dr Adefolaseye Adebayo, the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate for Surulere Federal Constituency I, accused the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) of selectively removing her campaign banners. Adebayo, a medical surgeon, stated that the alleged removal began after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially opened the campaign period for the 2027 elections.

She received reports from supporters who witnessed LASAA officials removing her campaign materials from various locations in Surulere. Upon confronting the officials, Adebayo was informed they were acting on behalf of LASAA, which claimed that streetlight poles and public infrastructure were assigned to government-approved outdoor advertising practitioners.

Adebayo noted that one of her banners remained while others were taken down, leading her to believe she was being targeted due to her political affiliation. Despite the situation, she decided not to pursue legal action against LASAA and instead planned to replace the removed banners, expressing gratitude for the publicity generated.

Adebayo also emphasized the importance of professional involvement in governance and her commitment to increasing women's participation in politics.
