Cleric Accuses Tinubu of Bribing Clerics for Endorsement

A northern Islamic cleric has publicly called for the rejection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election, alleging that approximately 500 clerics were bribed at five meetings to endorse his re-election. In a viral video, the cleric claimed that these meetings occurred three times in Kaduna, once in Abuja, and once in Jigawa, where millions of naira were distributed.

He specifically stated that attendees of the Abuja meeting received N3 million each, while others were given parcels with undisclosed amounts. The cleric criticized the gatherings for being political events dominated by music and praise for Tinubu, rather than addressing the economic hardships and security challenges faced by Nigerians.

He expressed that clerics should advocate for the people's needs rather than become political sycophants. He also questioned Tinubu's respect for northerners and mocked former Zamfara State Governor Abdul’aziz Yari for his support of Tinubu.

The cleric urged voters to accept money from politicians but not to vote for Tinubu.
