Obi and Tinubu Attend Peace Accord for 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, attended a peace accord signing ceremony at the ICC, which included other notable figures such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The peace accord is designed to promote peaceful, issue-based campaigns and to discourage inflammatory rhetoric, violence, and intimidation ahead of the 2027 political campaigns.

At the time of reporting, Tinubu and Atiku had not yet arrived at the venue. Obi addressed journalists, urging politicians to allow their actions to reflect their suitability for public office.

He stressed that the signing should not be a mere ceremonial act but should influence the conduct of political actors throughout the campaign and beyond. Obi condemned the violence during the recent Osun State governorship election, asserting that no political ambition justifies the loss of life and that elections should be won through persuasion and voter support.
