Obi and Makinde Call for Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, called for unity among political leaders and Nigerians to address issues of poverty, hunger, and insecurity in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential election. He made this appeal during the commissioning of the 2027 presidential campaign office of Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, in Abuja on Monday.

Obi expressed his belief in Makinde's qualifications for the presidency and stressed the importance of supporting whoever wins a credible election to foster national development. He stated, “We can’t all continue the way we are going today.

Our people are hungry. Our people are poor.

Our people are insecure.” Obi advocated for a political environment focused on improving living conditions and urged for a collaborative effort to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges. He also mentioned that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is among those contesting for the presidency.
