Obi, Atiku, Makinde Reject G-100 Coalition Consensus

The G-100 coalition, comprising various political groups advocating for a united single-ticket ahead of the 2027 elections, faces challenges as presidential candidates Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, and Seyi Makinde of the Allied Peoples’ Movement have declined to withdraw from the race. The coalition recently held a summit at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, aiming to create a strong opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu.

Umanu Elijah, a member of the G-100 coalition, stated that consultations would conclude by September 30 to select a consensus candidate. Despite the coalition's efforts, a trusted ally of Atiku confirmed that he is open to discussions but will not step down, emphasizing that his previous coalition efforts led to the formation of the ADC.

Atiku Abubakar intends to contest the 2027 election.
