NCSC Urges ADC to Seek Legal Redress Against INEC

The Nigerian Civil Society Council (NCSC), represented by Executive Director Bless Akinlosotu, has advised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to pursue legal action in competent courts against perceived injustices related to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). During a press conference in Abuja, Akinlosotu described the public criticism of INEC as unnecessary and noted that the ADC's crisis is an internal affair stemming from leadership disagreements.

He stressed that INEC's role should be limited to implementing judicial directives, referencing a court appeal ruling delivered on March 12, 2026. Akinlosotu claimed that INEC's de-recognition of the ADC faction is a legal blunder and urged the party to challenge this at the appellate level rather than arguing merits in trial courts.

He emphasized the need for political parties to adhere to the provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Act, asserting that INEC is empowered to enforce internal democracy and ensure compliance with established rules.
