Shina Peller Joins APM, Exits PDP for 2027 Senate Bid

On Thursday, Shina Peller, a former member of the House of Representatives, officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Allied People's Movement (APM) at the party's state secretariat in Ibadan. This strategic move is aimed at safeguarding his 2027 senatorial ambitions for Oyo North amidst the current legal instability plaguing the PDP, which has been affected by a protracted leadership vacuum and recent judicial nullifications.

Kola Popoola, Peller's chief press secretary, indicated that the decision was made to prioritize the mandate of the people in Oyo North and to avoid the pitfalls of post-electoral litigation that could disrupt party functionality. Peller emphasized that his entry into the APM is not merely a change of platform but a commitment to a people-first agenda, focusing on youth advancement and legislative reforms.

His transition to APM is seen as a significant step towards creating a credible alternative to traditional political structures in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
