Sowore Promises Free Education and Exam Fee Abolition

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), unveiled an ambitious education reform package ahead of the 2027 general elections. He promised to provide free education from nursery to university levels and to eliminate fees for public examinations such as WAEC and NECO.

Sowore emphasized that access to education should not depend on a family's financial status, asserting that every Nigerian child deserves the opportunity to learn without economic barriers. His proposed education blueprint includes a five-year primary education, five-year secondary education, and four-year university studies, along with the establishment of community colleges in every local government area.

The plan also aims to integrate technology into education, introducing digital classrooms and online libraries. Sowore's manifesto includes provisions for financial support for students in public higher institutions and emphasizes teacher welfare, promising improved salaries and professional development opportunities.

The proposal also seeks to enhance academic freedom and transparency in universities.
