Stakeholders Advocate Shift in Igede Political Leadership

During the second annual lecture organized by the Association of Igede Media Professionals (Aimp) in Abuja, stakeholders from Igede expressed unanimous support for a fundamental shift in the political leadership recruitment process in Igede land, Benue South Senatorial District, ahead of the 2027 elections. Od Ojowu, who served as the chairman of the event, emphasized the need for a rethought recruitment system to ensure competitiveness, integrity, and inclusiveness, prioritizing collective interests over narrow ones. David Ogewu, a member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, called for unity and support for political advancement in Igede.

He warned against the manipulation of voters using religion as a weapon. Comrade Egena Od noted that Igede nation continues to suffer unless a competitive and accountable selection process for political leaders is established.
